Business Story

Why this business was started

I work in healthcare and created a book and products to bring some satire to medical billing codes, ICD-10. It's an obscure space, but the products took off and the book is still in very high demand! This business is selling a product that no one else can produce. It's a collection of original art owned by the business with exclusive distribution rights. The art is distributed in the form of books, posters, playing cards, and power point decks.

The reason of selling this business

I don't have the time to keep the products stocked and fulfill orders. I attempted to hire friends and family to keep it going as it was making good money. However, at this point, I think it's best to see if someone else can better own and manage it. Including in the sale is the store front, URL, current inventory (not much...), rights to distribute the art, digital copies of the art and books suitable for reprinting.

Seller‘s Advice

How to grow this business

I would order more inventory and reengage the mailing list with monthly newsletters showcasing the work. Additionally, I'd turn on social advertising with promoted posts and ads. We never advertised in the past but I've had success with this strategy in other businesses.

Skills to have

The new owner should be able to work with printers to get inventory created then be able to fulfill orders daily to keep up with consumer demands.

Running this business for almost 5 years
I'm a healthcare technology entrepreneur. This business was an early project I worked on and the income supported me while I started a few other tech companies. Now I run Redox, a healthcare technology infrastructure company with 75 employees and offices around the country. I just moved to Boulder, CO with my wife and two year old.
