Business Story

Why this business was started

Jits Culture was started for jiu jitsu practitioner's and gym owners. We sell jiu jitsu uniforms and martial arts apparel designed by brazilian jiu jitsu practitioners. We offer wholesale accounts to gym owner's so they can turn around and sell the gear to their students. We sponsor jiu jitsu athletes in California, Maine, and Texas with free uniforms for brand content. Instagram has over a 1,000 followers and our sport is growing at a rapid pace, because of all the Ultimate Fighter Championship fights. People are learning that jiu jitsu and ground fighting are an important tool in winning fights. People are training a lot more, and this niche market has tons of potential if the right person with some capital can come in and run with it.

The reason of selling this business

We want to see a return on our investment for years of hard work. It takes capital to run the business, and we don't have the budget to grow it at a rapid pace. Great market and might dable in a different business in the future. This was a great learning experience for my second project building a business. I really wanted to see if other people thought I did a great job building this business, and I would find out if someone was willing to pay good money for the hard work.

What's involved in running this business

To keep this business up someone would want to keep up with today's trends about jiu jitsu grappling and mixed martial arts. Have a passion for designing new logos. Do alot of promoting on social media. Create apparel products to sell on the e-commerce site and buy jiu jitsu uniforms off Alibaba from Pakistan with your companies logo on it. Try to keep a blog going with valuable free content. We want to provide some free value to the jiu jitsu community so one day they might turn into a customer. We do that by directing them to our newsletter and market to them by email campaigns using Mail chimp.

Time to run this business: approximately 20 hours per week

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

We would continue to grow the business and get new followers through social media content posts, website blog, YouTube videos, adding a podcast, increasing inventory with more working capital, paid Facebook advertising, and sell on other platforms like Amazon and E bay with Shopify being the central platform.

    Skills to have

Now days it is pretty easy to make your own changes to the websites on Shopify without any previous education or training. It is a drag and drop platform where the theme already has a built in code. You pretty much just need to come up with your own content and type it in.
