Why this business was started

Karache (CARE-UH-SHAY) started out as a hobby and a way to sustain myself while finishing up the last few months of my college degree. It was fully retail selling handmade lipglosses, and then I saw the opportunity to add wholesale in November. After graduation, I anticipated to get a full time career but was blessed with many opportunities from Karache instead. In January, just 4 months after starting the business, it blossomed into more than I could ever imagine. Karache wholesale products took off and has been providing me a secure and stable income ever since! Now it is solely a wholesale and private label cosmetics supplier. It's rewarding to help so many people start their business and be their supplier, it truly is much deeper than just selling cosmetics. You really get to create connections with your audience!

The reason of selling this business

This business has opened so many new opportunities for myself and I am sure it will continue its blessings for the new owner! I loved being the back bone of helping so many new entrepreneurs with starting and supplying their businesses. Unfortunately, my time is needed elsewhere and I no longer am able to place all my focus into Karache as I once did. I would love to sell this business to someone who wants to continue uplifting others and place their love into building Karache to its fullest potential.

Karache is widely known throughout the lipgloss and cosmetics community on Instagram. My content and reels go viral all the time! Brand recognition is very high, I recently created a TikTok and engaged with some accounts on there and users got so excited to see Karache made it onto TikTok! When I engage on Instagram, users get excited and shocked that Karache noticed their account. Other accounts will tag Karache as one of their favorite vendors, and most inspiring businesses all the time on their story! So if you want your business to be well known and highly respected with a little bit of fan-girling when you show up this is perfect for you!

What's involved in running this business

I am a one woman team, so you can easily run this business as just one person. The main focus is to be very social media friendly and love social media since this is currently the main source for traffic.

Here is what is involved with running Karache: Heavy Instagram activity, posting numerous engaging Instagram stories every day, posting content 2-3 times a day every day, engaging with the audience, growing the business TikTok and posting content there, answering emails and problem solving missing/damaged packages and inputting insurance claims (not very often but does occur once every few months), communicating with vendors for restocks and also private label orders, shipping and packaging orders, creating social media content, editing content, handling inventory and creating samples, researching new trends/products, researching new marketing strategies.,

Since I do custom private label products, you will act as the middle man. Once a customer places their order, you will then place the order with the vendor, send a mock up to the customer for approval, once the customer approves the vendor will being processing, you'll receive the product, repackage it and then ship it. It's very easy!

There are not refunds/exchanges and everything is a final sale. Normally, if someone has a damaged item or missing item. I start a claim through our shopify shipping insurance and then send the amount via gift card for store credit to the customer. I normally insure all packages that are $30+ and that aren't easily replaceable. Anything below that are samples that don't cost much or can be replaced, but it is totally up to you if you'd like to charge insurance for each package.

Chargebacks are VERY rare, I believe in the past 2 years I have had less than 8 chargebacks. Most have been fraudulent, but I have placed security measures to help catch orders so they don't go through as a sale.

Other details about profit: This business has the potential to make over $20,000 a month which I have hit a few times just from organic traffic and no ads. I was able to steadily bring in over five figures in sales depending on inventory levels and how active I was on social media. Before I switched to a vendor, I was hand making these products by myself therefore I was only able to make so many each month which resulted in steady sales. When I was hitting 20k in sales, I was not tracking inventory. When I couldn't keep up with demand, I began to create a limited amount of inventory and tracked the stock each month and had restock days where they would sell out. Now that the vendor does all of the work, I believe running retargeting ads and venturing into new marketplaces will add to the revenue and increase profits!

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

    Karache's traffic was solely based on organic traffic from our Instagram page for the past 2 years. I have recently implemented SMS marketing (for restocks) that have always saw a return. For example spending $11 and received $1200 in sales. I also have an email list of 4,000+ subscribers if you'd like to add email marketing. This brand has amazing brand recognition throughout the lipgloss/cosmetics community on social media (leave a comment on a page, and they might freak out that you noticed them!). I believe the next step would be to include paid ads, outside marketing, and being a part of marketplaces such as Etsy, Faire, Alibaba.com and others. I have already have a Faire account and have received multiple inquiries although the store is not fully set up.

    Skills to have

    You should have moderate knowledge of how to implement social media strategies and how to post appropriately on these platforms. Understand how to edit and create IG content/reels to keep up the traffic I have created. Understand basic knowledge of Shopify, how to edit the theme, inventory, adding products and so on. Be able to handle customer service requests, deal with lost/damaged packages, communicate with vendors and promptly ship out orders.
