Why this business was started

We were inspired by our grandfathers business growing up and always wanted to work together but lived far apart. The drop-shipping format was the perfect way to work together, and work from home while bringing beautiful, handmade artisan jewelry and other accessories in front of new audiences. We have successfully established ourselves across multiple social media platforms and are bringing daily traffic to our website from it. We are so proud of the products we have found that are almost exclusively hand made in the US by local artists and designers. We find this is important to consumers who are looking for high quality, boutique like items.

The reason of selling this business

Our schedules have changed over the last two years since developing our business plans and we no longer have the time to keep up with finding new designers and adding new products at the level we have been. We have already done much of the work for you because our current designers are continually adding new designs to their portfolios. We find that we can update new products mostly with our current artists and only need to find new ones from time to time. We like to look in brick and mortar boutiques, Etsy and Instagram for new artists when we feel its time to add.

What's involved in running this business

Social media marketing/posting, finding new designers and adding products, email marketing (with the easy app we use), blogging and processing orders (via email). We do virtually everything with our phones. You can make this business as simple or detailed as you want it to be. The more you blog and communicate, the better the engagement on the site. We have also enjoyed collaborating with photographers who are looking to grow their businesses. They often come to us offering to take pictures for free! We all know how important great pictures are for social media.

    How to grow this business

    We have done very little in the way of paid advertising and so we see a lot of room for opportunity in that area. Our pinterest page gets 56k view per months and is often pinned. This is another area that can be developed quite a bit. We also would get our products onto Amazon Marketplace, continue collaborating with influencers and grow our handbag collection, because our bags sell pretty easily and the profit margins are good. This would be the direction we would move in.

    To own any online business, one must have a working knowledge of social media and basic tech skills so that you can upload pics and products with ease. If you are a creative mind with lots of ideas on how to reach people and attract attention to your products, the sky is the limit with ways to engage and advertise. I would also say that shopify is a huge source of support and guidance and would highly recommend this platform.
