Why this business was started

I started this business as a side project to see if I could earn some money while studying. It taught be a lot about customer service, product sourcing and online sales/advertising. I was studying business at college so it made sense to set up my own. The skills I learnt was very valuable to me and I also got the opportunity to make some decent money on the side.

I have decided to sell KyotoLondon because now I'm at university I do not have the time I used to have to invest into the KyotoLondon. I also feel I lack some of the marketing expertise required to make KyotoLondon really successful.

General description

KyotoLondon was created in October 2016 selling jackets, Yukata and other East Asian clothing. I started business as a side project which I worked on a few hours a week. Over time I generated over £21,000 in revenue with minimum intervention. I have advertised on reddit but most Ads are run through Facebook and Instagram. The business follows the drop shipping model and no actual inventory is stored. There is great potential in this business but I am busy with studies and don't have the time required to really fulfil it potential. Someone with better marketing expertise could easily make a lot of money with KyotoLondon. Currently on instagram we have over 600 followers but have been featured on some bigger accounts. Our emailing list contains 717 subscribers at the time of writing with around 68% engagement 23% of which are actively engaged and open most emails. This is why I believe with the right marketing this business could really take off.

KyotoLondon is easy to run and has quite a niche market. With some more work and time committed it would easily attract its target audience. It has a good reputation and still generates sales when Ads aren't being run.

A future owner would need to focus on social media and marketing but further improvements could be made to support, new products and making the website more user friendly and easier to buy from.

I have put over two years work into this store. I have found many great products that are easy to sell and gained KyotoLondon a good reputation. When I had more time I was putting 4/5 hours a week into the store which generated me good profits. Nowadays I don't have much time and only spend a hour a week fulfilling orders.
