Why this business was started

Looking for an answer to all of the waste I saw in the fashion industry, I quit my full-time job 3.5 years ago to start a sustainable boutique. This grew into a private label boutique with all garments made from deadstock material in downtown Los Angeles. I fully believe in and stand behind the idea of running a fashion company that set out to create beautiful garments from scrap materials, instead of adding more waste to our over-polluted environment.

The reason of selling this business

My business had a very promising start with a lot of interest and customer loyalty. Influencers with 100K+ followers were reaching out to us constantly to collaborate, with support from celebrities such as Emma Roberts and a mention on Brooke Shields Instagram. Unfortunately, being completely self-funded as an early 20-something placed a huge restriction on the business and its potential. In my position I no longer feel capable of making the same financial sacrifices, and believe the company needs the opportunity to grow with the right owner.

    How to grow this business

    Due to budget and resource restraints (my business was completely self-funded with one employee: me), I did not grow the business to scale in the way that I would have liked. Social media was always our top acquisition channel. I would highly recommend the next owner to focus on social media and influencer outreach. Also, to have monthly collections instead of seasonal, and to put more resources behind the production to be able to meet the needs of our demand.
