Business Story

Why this business was started

I started this business in order to earn an income around my three children. I am a creative person and so designing and making fun childrenswear was the perfect business for me. I was frustrated by the lack of funky, comfortable clothing available for girls in particular and wanted to carry a range of clothing that somewhat challenged gender stereotypes by using quirky unisex fabrics and t-shirt designs. I opened under the brand name Rock It Tots and re-branded to Little Whirlwinds in early 2018. Both brands/domain names are for sale.

The reason of selling this business

After 8 years of self-employment while my children were small, I decided once my youngest started school that I was ready for a change and to rejoin the traditional workplace.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

If I had continued with my business, I would have begun outsourcing the manufacture of some/all of my products to enable me to grow the wholesale side of the business. There is significant opportunity to do this which would accelerate growth and increase revenue. I would also put time and effort into influencer marketing and partnerships.

    Skills to have

If the new owner wishes to begin with the same product line and handmade approach I did, then the ability to use an overlocker/serger and sewing machine would be helpful, although this can be quickly learned. The ability to use a Silhouette Cameo or similar cutter and heat press would also be great, however, I taught myself to use these in a matter of days and I expect the new owner would have no problem doing this too.

I started my business in 2013 when my 3rd child was 9 months old. I saw a gap in the market for funky, unisex children's clothes and wanted a way of earning an income around my childcare responsibilities. I successfully ran my business designing and making a range of clothing for 5 years and developed a loyal customer base. I am now looking to pass my business on to someone who would benefit from the years of hard work I put in to build it.

Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.

Take time to inspect the business

Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.

    Safe store transfer

When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.
