General description

The business was launched in 2017 with a product line of three Matcha varieties including a Culinary (Cooking Grade), Premium (House Grade), and Matcha Muscle (A Pea Protein Matcha Blend). Our protein matcha blend is unique to our brand and our other two varieties provide competitively priced and flavorful grades of Matcha Tea suitable for cooking, shakes, tea, lattes, and a wide array of uses.

Matcha Tea has seen rising popularity in recent years mostly due to its numerous health benefits including a surplus of antioxidants, all-natural energy, and its bright green color. Matcha Tea is shade grown tea leaves that are consumed whole, boasting a healthier alternative to tea or other caffeine sources like coffee.

A majority of the work was put in before we launched, spending significant resources on branding, site development, social media development, and most notably establishing a relationship with our manufacturer located in UJI, Japan - one of the world’s most renowned tea regions.

Myself and partner stepped away away from the business in recent months simply due to time restrictions with our full time jobs, I have included mostly numbers from 2017 through December of 2018 to provide an accurate picture of sales and traffic when more time was being put in. We are looking to recoup mostly of our upfront costs associated with the website, content creation, and sourcing. We generated sales mostly through Instagram, influencer marketing, and some in-person events.

Sale includes website, social media pages (10,500+ Instagram), email list (800+ subscribers), packaging design, introduction to supplier, a few point of purchase items for trade shows or events and personal support from business owners through the transition process.

Instagram yielded the highest return with influencer “Takeovers” and our 10,500+ followers are most valuable marketing channels.

Other details about profit: We currently have 3 products which vary in price between $15.99 and $19,99 - per unit cost is between 30% and 38%. In regards to overall profitability fixed overhead expenses is almost non existent with monthly charges being just our Shopify store and packing supplies. We have spend less that $150 on paid social or any advertising.
