Why this business was started

I love home design and saw a gap in the children's decor market. Many of the better options for well-designed furniture were just available overseas and I wanted to bring this to the Canadian marketplace. The shop is well-loved with a high level of repeat customers.

I'm moving personally to Toronto and have also been working full-time. Expanding this business requires more time and resources than I currently have available.

What's involved in running this business

It's been online only since January of 2019. Prior to that I had physical pop-ups combined with online. Adding products to the site, ordering new items in, stock management, social media selling, answering customer emails and questions, running email marketing campaigns, filling and shipping orders.

Other details about profit: I've heavily invested in building the brand since inception in 2018, so most profits have gone back into advertising, influencer marketing, and other marketing activities. Sales increase the more you spend on social media and google-based marketing. I have scaled back marketing efforts over the last year considerably, but overall sales have not really decreased. It's at the stage where someone really needs to invest more time and money to have the business really grow.

The entire OYOY line would also be available - there is a LOT of product growth available.

    How to grow this business

    This online store did quite well when combined with physical retail pop-ups (months with combined online and retail say $27k+ month in sales). I'd suggest this would be a great match for someone who wants to invest in a physical location and online. I have connections and contacts with many other designer wholesalers in Europe, but it would need investment into in order to expand stock offerings. I have entire lines to be added to the website that are not currently on the website. I have exceptional relationships with specialized and high-end vendors that took a lot of time to cultivate and I would love to pass those connections on to a new owner.

    Skills to have

    It would be great if the new owner was passionate about design and children's decor. This person would be well served to have expertise in online/digital marketing and social media marketing.
