General description

Mitz Kids is an exciting and profitable established clothing brand that manufactures fun and educational clothes for kids. This is a great investment opportunity for a new entrepreneur OR an existing store/brand that would like to expand their product offering.

We have grown this business to an average monthly profit of around $2,000 from a strong and loyal customer base. We have many great product/brand reviews, and have an engaged social media audience of over 11k followers and an email audience over 7k subscribers. The vast majority of our sales come from organic, word-of-mouth and email campaign sales. We have not fully tested the digital advertising market, and someone who is experienced in online advertising will be able to quickly and easily scale this business.

About the brand:

The two founders started this company in 2016 via a successful Kickstarter campaign (which still drives traffic to this day). Many parents fell in love with our mission of providing fun, educational clothing free from gender stereotypes for young girls and boys alike. Our first most popular product was our Dinosaur Dress with 3D spikes down the back.

Parents love these clothing items with 3D elements and we then brought that idea to our Rainbow and Dark Dinosaur lines. We would highly recommend that the next owners also explore this avenue for new products, and given our established supplier network, introducing new products would be a breeze.

Why we’re selling:

We have bootstrapped this business from the beginning. In the two years since funding on Kickstarter, the two founders have worked on this project as a part-time gig and have grown the revenue and traffic. One of the founders comes from a background in education and the other in backend web development - neither had a strong background in digital marketing, which any ecommerce company needs to scale. The founders no longer have the time the brand needs to really succeed. We would rather see someone create a successful business than for it to sit idly by (albeit, still generating a nice profit per month).

This opens up a great investment opportunity for someone to buy an established kids clothing line, and easily scale this business.

Business Expenses

We have tested many different third party apps, plugins, Software as a Services and are currently operating with relatively bare expenses. At this point we have consistent sales given the low expenses, and the business is ready for another owner to scale marketing and advertising expenses to take the business to the multi-6 figure mark. Our advertising costs at this point are solely for Google Shopping which is currently setup at about $150/month. Our Subscriptions include MailChimp, some accounting software (optional) and a few Shopify plugins which are totally optional.

We currently fulfill all of our orders manually. This can be done through the Shopify platform or through ShipStation, etc.. We have a small closet with cubby holes to separate the various types (t-shirts, dresses, leggings, etc). A future buyer could easily setup a similar operation and we would be happy to provide some guidance on best practices - whether in an office, home or storage unit. Alternatively, the products could easily be sent to a third-party fulfillment center such as FBA, Rakuten, Printful or others.

Q & A

Do you work with any employees, freelancers, or contractors?

We work with freelance designers and contractors and will happily share their information with you. On average, these cost about $200/mo, as needed. The designers help to convert our ideas for patterns into the graphic design files needed to send to our suppliers to create our products. We managed our own social media posting, however, these tasks could easily be given to a VA, social media manager or similar.

Why should someone buy this store?

Mitz Kids is ready to be scaled to the next level. Everything from the supplier network to the website has been established. Now, it just needs an individual or team who knows their way around digital marketing to scale the business. With the brief Facebook Ads testing we did for one month during the Holiday season 2017, we were able to easily achieve a 3.0x RoaS with a Customer Acquisition Cost of less than $15.

Additionally, both founders will be fully committed to getting the store, inventory, ideas and much more transferred to the new owners. As the founders are close to the brand, we will happily provide ideas, brainstorming and more as you further scale this business.

How can the future owner improve the business?

While this business can maintain itself and kick off a profit as-is, there are quite a few opportunities for a future owner to improve the business:

1.) SEO - writing additional blog articles, getting more backlinks, etc.

2.) Design Enhancements - As neither of the current founders come from a graphic design background, there are many opportunities to increase sales simply by integrating a new design or modifying the existing theme.

3.) Automated Email Marketing

4.) Social Media Marketing

5.) Testing and Launching New Product Lines - Use our established and well-documented supply network to introduce new styles, patterns and designs as frequently as you would like.

6.) Reduce COGS - Import already cut and sewn dresses, resell other brands, implement dropshipping

7.) Cross-Sell - Introduce toys, shoes, or other related items that the parenting audience would be interested in.

8.) Add Dropshipping of cross-sell items, new designs or similar.

9.) Influencer Marketing

As you can see, we have many ideas on how you can further scale this business and the founders will happily go over all of this information in more detail to an interested party.

What work have you put into the store?

We have built a custom theme. We can make additional changes to this theme or assist in installing a new theme for a new customer. We have A/B tested many aspects of the website and it converts well at its current state.

How many hours does it take to run this business per week?
