Business Story

Why this business was started

I came across the idea of building a personalized print on demand business where I sell custom canvas and other products with personalized designs of customers pets

I am an introvert and I liked the idea of creating a brand around this topic as I know introverts are very passionate about their pets

I also wanted to use the brand to raise money for mental heath support and animal rescue charities with the idea of donating a portion of revenue to these organizations

The reason of selling this business

I spent a lot of time and money setting everything up which went way over the budget and time I wanted to spend on it. I didn't have the means to spend money on advertising and only tried free organic methods which didn't produce any results for me.

I was also trying other methods and had success with them so I put this on hold just in case I wanted to come back to it in future.

Since then I have had more success making money with other efforts online so now I rarely touch this. I considered trying to run it passively on Etsy only but even then this business requires management to keep it running and cannot be run passively.

It would be a shame to call it a complete loss so I am hoping to sell it to make some money back at least and hopefully someone can take it over and perhaps turn it in to something

What's involved in running this business

Most of the hard work of setting up a Print On Demand store is done!

My Etsy store and Shopify store are ready to receive orders, it just needs someone to continue to build it by running ads, building up the social media pages and to continue building the website with more products etc

The shopify store is set up with a Out Of the Sandbox Flex theme and I had an Upwork shopify designer custom build the website for me

Various Klaviyo email campaigns have already been created and set up.

I already have some designs for various products (Canvas, Cushions, Mugs and phone cases)

The supplier I use is 215 based in the UK, they have very reasonable prices for their items and very low shipping costs so found them ideal. I test ordered those items and they are all of high quality.

There is already a design team in place ready to receive and complete orders as they come in.

I spent time on Upwork vetting lots of designers and picked a team that are good and want to work hard, I am paying them $5 per design which allows for a decent profit margin.

I also have 2 designers which are very good at developing ideas you may have.

I have had a few orders only from Etsy and the team handled it well so far.

Team is managed on Trello, you'll have to approve their designs before sending it to the print on demand company.

Once the order is shipped you would need to continue any required correspondence with the customer.

Website has a support system set up so you can keep track of live chats and support emails

Overall I spent several thousand setting this up so you'll be able to skip a lot of the fuss of setting things up for a large discount

You will be given access to the business g suite and google drive which has access to everything you need

Upon sale I would be happy to help you get set up for a smooth transition

Seller‘s Advice

How to grow this business

I would continue to build the store with more designs and products

Set up advertising to start building the email list, getting some sales and reviews which will help to gain momentum

Also build the social media pages for organic sales

Skills to have

Ideally you should have knowledge on how to build a print on demand and/or shopify store

It would be really helpful to have previous experience or knowledge on marketing and advertising

Hi, I'm Simon Trowse from London, UK I have been working on making money online for just over a year, trying a few different ways including this shopify store. I have had success with other methods such as Affiliate marketing and Forex trading so this store is no longer my focus
