Why this business was started

Originally, the company began as a hobby based project for me and my business partner. As we are attempting to move into the workforce for college, we wanted to show we were capable of the real world experience which comes with owning and operating our own business. We chose an outdoor themed clothing company due to our passions for the outdoors and extensive travel portfolios, which we used to help gather new ideas and themes for the business.

The reason of selling this business

As mentioned before, we have simply outgrown what we are capable of handling for just our small team. We felt it would be best for us to step away from the business before it was to large for us to handle fully. Along with this, we felt it was time we moved on into careers which we had aspired to take for so long. This company has done exactly what we had hoped, and then some and we feel it is the right time for someone else to take over.

What's involved in running this business

Day to day activities include but are not limited to: fulfilling orders, ordering from suppliers, communication with shipping departments and print shops, speaking to wholesalers, attending trade shows, operating social media presence, and non-profit organization. It is important to note as well that two college seniors were able to handle all of these daily tasks, so though it may seem as if it is extensive, it is certainly not unbearable.

Other details about profit: Due to our location on a college campus, we are able to accept transactions through a Clover system which is them deposited strait into our bank account after taking the appropropriate taxes. This does not reflect on the our Shopify order history or average monthly transactions, though we estimate it would increase our average monthly revenue by $100.

    How to grow this business

    The hope for this business would be to expand first into small, local shops, potentially on a consignment style service (we previously approached this idea and were successful in a small test environment) or a full wholesale style service. This being said, the goal would be to also limit shops to those who we feel share the passion for the company, and also to keep the branding "limited" enough to not take away from our online sales channels.

    We found that minor understanding in basic social media marketing techniques can be a huge help to future owners, although it is not necessary due to an expansive following already amassed.
