I found a need for a creative and different apron. Something that was more high end then your average cotton smock apron. We wanted to make something that the wearer can wear with pride.

Something that makes the wearer stand out from the rest of their competition.

My wife and I have started a couple other businesses and we feel it's time to hand the reigns over to someone else who has the time and passion to make it really succeed.

General description

Ray Steels was THE original leather apron company. After watching drab aprons hang in slick barbers, or high end cocktail bars we thought we needed to create an apron that was 1. wearable. 2. served a purpose and 3. looked GOOD.

And thats what we did. Designed a gorgeous leather apron, lined it with flamboyant and fun linings and watched them walk out the doors.

We now dress only the best barbers, tattooers, cafes, bars worldwide.

Not only you do get the website but both Facebook and Instagram accounts with over 6000 followers. Included in the sale is our complete inventory, packaging, domain and logos.

Our product sells itself. We have down the groundwork, created a flawless design and created a big community of loyal, passionate and repeat customers. The hard work has been done, you just need to continue with the fun.

Our relationship with our manufacturing partners is strong and established and we work in a very timely and trustworthy manner. Designed in Melbourne, made by our partners overseas and sold worldwide, so the work itself is very easy.

How can the future owner improve the business?

With a more hand on owner you could find even more new cafes, bars, barbers to reach out too.

We have never bothered with a wholesale side of the business but have had a lot of enquiries on this and feel selling them wholesale would be a great avenue to pursue

The design is gorgeous and we have also explored denim and canvas options. Both with great success. There is huge potential to expand the designs and add new styles.

A continued relationship with our current audience will help grow the business even further.

We have fine tuned the design of the leather and canvas aprons. We have established a customer base and audience which is loyal. We have given Ray Steels an identity. Using our own social media presence we have captivated an audience which has become very loyal. This is work which is priceless.

    More designs, more colour ways, more hands concept development with our manufacturer and more professional photoshoots!

    Our clients are always after new colour ways, new linings and new products but we always pull the whole 'don't have enough time' card and feel its as simple as that.

    In the beginning we would love to spend time finding vintage linings for our aprons, then the demand became so high and our other businesses started to demand more time that we really fell off a bit.

    With the right person/people on the job creating more colour ways and spending more time on professional photoagraphy this brand would really excel!
