It started while working on an office space for ourselves and our company. We continually found ourselves running into difficulties finding ways to create a space that cultivated an exciting, sophisticated and inspirational environment, while accurately communicating the unique essence of all those individuals that would occupy the space. For us, the iPhone singularly represented our professional lives perfectly, and we wanted to find a way to incorporate it into the spaces. Then the idea to find patent art hit us, while searching for just the right pieces we came across two awesome Irish gents that had created this amazing business called Retro Patents. I purchased the business from them and have not regretted it.

Looking to sell as I've been promoted to CTO of a technology firm and I am unable to put the time in that's required to continue to grow the business.
What's involved in running this business
All Patent art and marketing images are created in Photoshop. Here are the steps to create the next big seller
Create Patent Art Detailed instructions will be provided for how to do this with template files.
Create Marketing Assets When we create a new patent art we also create marketing images to use on the site as well as Instagram etc. For each image we have a separate Photoshop. The three main images are connected into the template file so when we update the template the three photoshops files will update. For other marketing assets you can import the final patent image and use that.
Once done with assets you will need to upload to Shopify as well as the print on demand vendor system.
Order Fulfillment: Once a new order comes in it will automatically be sent to print on demand vendor if it's a paper print. If there is an issue with fulfillment they will send an email with the issue and corrections may need to be made (example: missing information or bad shipping address). Contact the buyer and get the correction and update the order. 90% no action is needed. Sometimes an order gets returned or is unable to be delivered, the fulfillment center will contact with details through their portal and you will need to work with the client and vendor to resolve. For hardwood prints we use a separate vendor, when an order comes in an email will have to be sent with the details of the order and the vendor places it into their system and does the rest. These are for USA orders only. We do not allow orders outside of the US for these.
Customer support can all be done via Shopify communication channels. Refunds, returns and other are easily managed through the site.

- Marketing Marketing Marketing....this site and products never have bad reviews and has a high returning customer rate. The only issue is the number of products available being increased and the amount of traffic making it through the store. I have been unable to commit the proper time to marketing and developing strong marketing campaigns for this site.
- Consistently releasing new SKUs (new print designs) to the product lineup on a monthly basis.
These two efforts over time will produce strong revenue for anyone with good experience in marketing. Releasing new SKUs is easy and just a matter of locating new interesting patents to feature and creating the design assets from developed templates.
