Why this business was started

I saw a big opportunity in the beauty industry, specifically with press on/ gel nail wraps. Easy application, new and crazy designs, delivered right to customers door step with massive opportunity to scale and add new products with a developing customer base. I wanted to start a true DTC business with amazing customer support and fast shipping times to have a high returning customer rate and make areal genuine brand unlike those spammy dropshipping business's

The reason of selling this business

I started this business as a college student over the summer along with my sister who helped with design, products and strategy. While it was manageable at first It was hard to balance university/grad school for the both of us with running this business. As things were scaling I also needed more capital for inventory and it became even harder to manage day-to-day tasks such as customer support, fulfilling orders, etc as this was being managed by just the both of us. I've envisioned to keep growing the brand with growing our customer base however I reached a limit with what I could provide and I never took the opportunity to scale and outsource. These made it even harder for a two person team to manage and I believe the business is in a perfect state for a takeover to take it to the next level with focus and dedication. Although sales have been declining, I never had the level of focus along with the capital/inventory to keep scaling and bring this to the next level as this business model works best with a high selection of products.

What's involved in running this business

Managing our facebook/instagram ads is a big part in reaching new customers and brand outreach. This involves looking through campaign performance, tweaking ads, looking at the metrics, etc.

Fulfillment is also important, although this can be outsourced I was fulfilling orders myself. Calculating inventory purchases and ordering the inventory.

With so many different SKU's it's important to observe the best sellers and what doesn't sell good in order to maximize profits/revenue.

Customer support. Growing a brand requires a lot of attention to customers needs. This involves helping them with basic general questions regarding products, helping them with shipping questions, other misc questions.

Other details about profit: Higher margins are made when customers order more sets. Although this is obvious it's something that's overlooked. With more styles being added there's a potential to bundle products increase AOV. Retail brands are also a great revenue source. Many have reached out to source or products however we didn't have the inventory capacity to fulfill their demands and orders.

    How to grow this business

    There are many opportunities and new channels of marketing to tap into. One being email marketing with over 4,000+ subscribers. Accessing different channels of marketing for brand outreach such as with Tiktok, snapchat, google ads, which were never tried. We also recently introduced bundles which have been a great way to increase AOV for customers. Subscriptions are also another great revenue stream to keep customers coming back. New styles can be introduced based upon season and other trends and customers who try our wraps more often than not come back to order more which serves as a big opportunity.

    Skills to have

    Digital advertising would be useful as this is our only way to reach new customers. I used facebook and instagram so any experience with that would be useful. An understanding of supply chain as our inventory is ordered from our supplier in China (contacts given). Graphic design and customer support (however those can be outsourced easily). A good understanding of e-commerce and how to operate it.
