Business Story
Why this business was started
The market for reusable items to replace single-use plastic is significant. After witnessing first-hand the trash problem that can arise in an area without routine collection, we decided we could make a difference. There are small steps that people have awaken to in order to reduce our single-use consumption and Save One Straw can help. What began as a basic thought in early 2018, went live in mid-December 2018 with a mission to reduce plastic straw consumption.
The reason of selling this business
Since we went live in mid-December 2018, our stores has had good traffic and sales. Our social media accounts are expanding each day with approximately $5/month in ad spend. With that said, we have other careers that do take time away from this business. The need for reusable products in place of single-use disposables continues to grow-we would like to see how far someone with both time and a belief in our mission can take the company.
What's involved in running this business
Retail orders are placed online at our website. Bulk, wholesale, and commercial orders are directed to correspond through email as requests usually involved customization or bulk discounts.

Seller‘s Advice
How to grow this business
Instagram and Facebook have been have been our primary sales channels for Shopify and have unbelievable potential. The majority of our sales come from commercial and wholesale accounts which are not recorded in Shopify. There seems to be a large market for customizing our products with client logos for promotion purposes which we have not explored. Another area we have not yet had time to tap are hospitals, particularly children's and rehabilitation. Adding different types of straws was another plan in our future.
Skills to have
As we have accounts and domain established and like-branded, social media marketing is a huge plus. Sales experience in order to market to hospitals and additional retail establishments has huge potential.
