Why this business was started

I decided to start this business out of my passion for creating conversation surrounding our environment. The topic of global waste and it's mismanagement has become a hot topic. I managed to pin point a product directly related to waste in our oceans, while putting sea turtles at the forefront of the marketing plan. Leveraging a product by utilizing a mission has lead to a massive response and a high volume of orders. This business beyond being started out of passion for the mission was that products are sold easily when customers can buy with emotion and justify with logic.

The reason of selling this business

I am selling this business as I don't have the time necessary that this project needs to continue growing. I currently have other projects that require more of my attention and I would hate to see this passion project come to end so quickly after starting it. I have built a solid foundation for a new owner to take over and continue this business successfully. Ideally the new owner is someone who is also passionate about helping the environment and cleaning up our oceans. This business will require your continued attention and drive to maximize exposure across the globe.

What's involved in running this business

Tasks: - Order fulfillment (1-3 hours week) - Content Creation (1-2 hours week) - Ad creation (1-2 hours week) - Email Support (1 hour week)

One of the best parts of running this business is my single supplier. I have built up a relationship with them over the course of 4 months. They have a warehouse in the USA where all my products are stored and shipped from (international orders ship from China). This greatly increases the speed in which customers receive their items. This supplier will also work with you to stock other items in their warehouse as you see fit without any upfront investment.

This is where we implemented Google Ads to obtain more sales during this high search volume period. - Organic Sales (according to Google Analytics) has accounted for $18,000 in gross sales, $16,000 of which has come in since June 2019. Since July 2019 (taking out the social media spike in June), organic traffic has accounted for $3455 in gross sales out of the $5444 total for July so far. This is ultimately where the value of the business is. Having positioned it well for a trending search term with a domain to match, organic traffic/sales will continue to flow in. Considering that environmental trends are not going anywhere soon and just beginning to gain traction with recently plastic ban laws, I think the organic traffic will continue to increase YOY.

    How to grow this business

    Over the next 5 years, there are going to be significant changes to how we live our daily lives alongside plastic. Recent changes to laws banning single-use plastics, positions Save The Turtles at the forefront of this change. Ideally the new owner would look to increase the social presence of the brand as this has been an area that is lacking attention.

    Once the social presence is built, I would look to slowly private labelling the products to give the customers a truly branded experience. Word of mouth is going to be this business' bread & butter over the next few years. Having a solid branded experience will lead to more customers talking about Save The Turtles as the go to place for all things reusable.

    The other area for growth would be paid advertising. We had some minor success in running Google Ads, but have yet to tap into Facebook or Instagram (including influencers). There is an extremely seasoned Pixel included with the sale of this website that someone with Facebook experience could leverage.
