SEA Change Clothing Co. is on a mission to fight ocean pollution, and to make folks look good while doing it. Clothing is a major polluter of oceans, and so our founder, Brennan, created SEA Change because he wanted to change the way clothing impacts our oceans. So did many others, apparently, as our Kickstarter was a hit! We exceed our Kickstarter goal of $10K, with total funds raised of $11.5K in early 2017.
SEA Change is made from 100% ocean-friendly materials, and we clean up 3 pounds of trash from oceans and waterways for every item sold. We've been featured in numerous articles, news programs like CBC, on podcasts, and even in schools!

Created in 2017, SEA Change is an ocean environmental clothing brand on a mission to fight ocean pollution. Through 100% ocean-friendly clothing, and organized cleanups along beaches, lakes, and rivers across Canada, SEA Change has successfully removed almost 1,000 pounds of trash from oceans and waterways.
SEA Change has cornered a powerful niche, built a strong community, and makes a meaningful impact. We live in a time when customers are more aware of how the environmental and social impacts of their purchase decisions. Soon, successful businesses will have to be on the forefront of environmental and social impact.
I created SEA Change because I wanted my clothing to change the way my clothing impacted the ocean. I wanted to be part of the solution; not part of the problem. Others felt the same. Our community grew fast, with features some of Canada’s top new channels, websites, and podcasts. Our Kickstarter was a hit, and our products keep people coming back (seriously, wait to you feel our hoodie!). We even had an elementary school class in Alberta create a project on ocean environmentalism BECAUSE of SEA Change!
This business is for someone who believes that business can be a force for good. It’s for someone who hates plastic straws, isn’t afraid of sharks, and always believes that tomorrow can be better than today.

Customers LOVE our products. They are ridiculously comfy. We recommend staying with our manufacturer.
However, the environmental mission of SEA Change can be altered to be easier for a new owner to manage. Rather than organizing beach clean ups, partnering with an ocean environmental organization and contributing a percentage of profits to ocean causes could be an effective strategy. Customers want to know that their purchases make a real impact.
Expanding the product line into new clothing items and accessories will be beneficial.
SEA Change has had virtually no ad spending, as a large amount of initial traffic came from media referrals, our podcast appearance, etc. Great opportunity exists to reach new customers with effective ad spending.
We recommend sticking closely with the original vision of environmental change and progress. It brings together a unique, passionate, and connected community of ocean lovers. A strong niche from which to build!
A Kickstarter requires a great deal of hard work. A successful Kickstarter requires even MORE. We put in a ton of work to design, manufacture, promote, connect, share, create all things SEA Change. It all paid off.
After our Kickstarter, time was spent developing important relationships with our manufacturers, influencers, social media community, and other ocean activists.
Our social media strategy was specifically designed to connect with our target audience, which was resulted in a meaningful and genuine following. Bots beware!
Customer experience has been a priority of SEA Change. Each product we deliver comes with surprises to delight our customers. Personal notes, gifts, extras, and more, delight our customers and encourage strong loyalty. One customer in particular is like the cat that came back the very next day. She just can't stay away! So much so that we actually contacted her to make sure she was aware of all the orders being placed!
A lot of love has gone into SEA Change. In 2018, less time and fewer resources have been going into the company as the founder has had to shift focus to new adventures. SEA Change is ready for the next entrepreneur to take on the challenge of building something even more significant and successful!
