Why this business was started

I started this journey in 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak that shocked people in every corner of our world. The pandemic stopped me in my everyday tracks and shifted my gears to thinking about issues experienced globally that often go unnoticed.

In a matter of months, we saw single-use face masks skyrocket in sales, consequently introducing a new kind of pollution. Our environment is clearly suffering due to our human behaviour. Everyday actions really make a difference — good or bad. The number of masks I see littered on footpaths is absolutely ridiculous — the saddest part of this being the animals and marine life hurt by this newly created waste.

Our simple, daily actions have big consequences — this is where Sili Planet comes in. I decided to launch a business aimed at helping others make the world a better place with small daily actions.

The reason of selling this business

I've been granted a new opportunity with my corporate job, an irresistible offer and one that can open new doors for me. Unfortunately, that means I'm unable to give Sili Planet the love and care it deserves and put the effort in to the business to allow it to flourish.

After months of trying to juggle both, I came to the sad conclusion that Sili Planet deserves someone's fulltime attention to allow it to grow and educate the world as it should.

Other details about profit: $295 (the monthly revenue) is being quite conservative as it accounting for the entirety of the business’s life - We stopped running advertisement almost a year ago so the orders naturally slowed down and brough that Shopify certified average down. If you had the time to invest and were able to continue to advertise, those numbers would skyrocket back to our $750~ monthly averages.

    How to grow this business

    The eco-business is still in its really early stages with such untapped potential!

    If I had the time to continue down this path, I would continue to educate people via TikTok/Instagram/Facebook on the huge impact their small daily changes at home could be making!

    As for the business itself, I would look to expand our range beyond the kitchen and look at ways to go sustainable in the bathroom, laundry and even outdoors.

    Being educated in the sustainability space is a huge plus but not something that you can't learn!
