Why this business was started

To create an additional revenue stream for my family, and to learn about running an online retail store. After testing many products and samples, I settled on this particular niche - as I was able to create some unique products that could only be purchased from my store, therefore protecting my margins and offering a unique selling proposition.

The reason of selling this business

As stated above, I simply do not have the time to invest anymore. My main job has become increasingly demanding, and I am often required to be away for travel. This has impacted my ability to service orders and fulfill within desired lead-time of 24 hours.

What's involved in running this business

Orders are fulfilled manually from home office/workspace. Physical goods are stored in local warehouse/storage room, with small inventory kept at home. Additional products are sold through domestic and international dropshipping partners, so orders are transmitted electronically once received. Some time & attention is required to set-up and maintain any paid advertising campaigns eg Google, Facebook etc.

    How to grow this business

    I would definitely start by building out some automated email workflows and funnels. These always provide a great ROI, however to date this has all been manual/adhoc. I have simply not had time to develop automated processes.

    Skills to have

    Digital marketing would be a big plus, knowledge of Google & Facebook advertising etc. The business generates significant revenue through other online marketplaces without this however, so would not be mandatory.
