Why this business was started

I started this business back in 2017 as a way to serve the online following i was building. I have grown a instagram beauty page and women started to ask for different product recommendations and so i started the store by dropshipping beauty and skin care products but soon after (mid 2018) i noticed that the winning product by far was the home waxing kit that was bringing more than half of the revenue of the store. It was then i decided to change the brand to solely focus on a waxing brand and be able to build a passionate audience around this niche with the potential to create repeat buyers and expand in this huge industry.

The reason of selling this business

I have decided to sell this business as this year i started another venture on the fitness niche and i do not have any more time to dedicate on growing and scaling Sparklywax. As i mentioned before there is a lot of potential on this industry as you are able to create a strong brand where you can have repeat purchases on a consumable product. You can then scale everything by adding additional skin care consumable products to the product line like pre and post waxing lotions, creams etc... or even expando to more beauty salons as your customers.

What's involved in running this business

The current stock of products is all managed by a US Warehouse and any time there is a new sale the guys at the warehouse automatically pick, pack and ship the products and add the tracking information to the customer order so that is all set on automatic. Suppliers are based on China and they create everything from the wax warmer to the sticks and wax. When it comes to running traffic i suggest focusing specially in paid ads and even influencer marketing. For the organic i suggest you focus specially on Instagram, email marketing and blogging down the road you can also try pinterest and facebook.

Sparklywax is a hair removal brand that focuses on selling home waxing kits. Waxing is a trype of hair removal were by heating hard wax on the wax warmer machine you get a melted type of wax were you do not need strips in order to remove the hair. By waxing you can achieve hair free smoother skin for longer (since you are removing the hair from the root) rather than shaving (up to 6 weeks hair free). And compared to laser it gives you smoother skin because it also exfoliates the skin and works at all skin types (laser only works well on lighter tone skin types with dark hair)

Other details about profit: Currently sales slowed down a bit due that im running out of inventory so i had to stop ads. The good news is I have found an even better quality wax (happier customers mean repeat customers) and a much lower priced wax heater (meaning much better profit margings) I already have placed the order for inventory which is now being manufactured. For you to better understand the costs and profits of the current products and store i leave some details below: We currently have 2 SKUs on the store "Sparkly Home Wax Kit" which comes with 400g of wax + warmer + 10 wooden spatulas. Then we also have the "Hard Wax Refill Pack" which comes with 400g of wax beans. Out of a: 300 wax warmer kit order from supplier + 1000 Customized Box + 1000 Customized Product Manual + 500 Customized Insert + 500 100g of wax beans. This were the prodcut costs of a order placed in 2019: LED Smart Wax Warmer : $17.70 each (this includes 400g of wax + warmer + wooden spatula each) Customized Box: $0.40 each Customized Manual: $0.04 each Customized Insert: $0.06 each 100g Wax Beans: $0.8 each Total individual product cost of "Sparkly Home Wax Kit" = $18.2 (LED Smart Wax Warmer + Customized Box + Customized Manual + Customized Insert) Total individual product cost of "Hard Wax Refill Pack" = $3.2 (100g Wax Beans x 4) Then i like to offer free US shipping to all customers so the average shipping cost on US is of $6 (+ $2.5 (charge per shipped order of fulfilment company)) to ship the "Sparkly Home Wax Kit" so total product cost of "Sparkly Home Wax Kit" is $26.7 and selling price is of $49.99. Total profit per product sold = $23.29 To ship the "Hard Wax Refill Pack" average shipping cost is of $3 (+ $2.5 (charge per shipped order of fulfilment company) so total product cost of "Hard Wax Refill Pack is of $8.7 and selling price is of $22.99. Total profit per product sold = $14.29 Other costs include software like shopify + email marketing software + warehouse cost which is about $160/m at the current inventory. The good news is for the new order i placed this 2020, i found a better quality wax, a much affordable wax warmer which gives us much better profit margings. The current costs are: $2.3 for each 453g of hard wax bag, so i orderd 600 bags and paid a total of $1380 + $300 of freight/shipping. So total $1,680 . $3.2 for each wax heater with sparklywax logo & $0.18 for each 10pc wooden sticks, so i orderded 300 wax heaters & 300 (10pcs)wooden sticks and paid a total of $1014 + $580 shipping. So total $1,594 .
