Steampunk Heaven is an online business that sells niche fashion accessories and apparel. The business is entirely based around dropshipping/print on demand and is almost completely automated.
I started Steampunk Heaven in January 2016 with a WordPress/WooCommerce website. In January 2017 I migrated the website over to Shopify.
Since the move to Shopify, Steampunk Heaven has generated over 12,100 sales and $319,000 in total revenue. It is also in the top 1% of stores that launched during the same week on Shopify in terms of traffic.
Marketing has been (successfully) done through a variety of channels. As of the past 4 - 5 months, the business has primarily focused on Google Shopping ads and email marketing.
Prior to that, I had successfully used Facebook and Instagram ads to drive a large amount of sales. The main reason I switched to Google Shopping ads was due to the fact that it was (and still is) a MUCH more hands off experience compared to other ad platforms. The overall time commitment is much smaller, allowing me to focus more on my other business.
Steampunk Heaven has an email list of over 8,800 subscribers that has proven to be EXTREMELY effective in generating sales. Additionally, Steampunk Heaven has a healthy social media presence with over 34,000 follows/likes on Facebook, 7,000 followers on Twitter, and 5,900 followers on Instagram.
Lastly, Steampunk Heaven has a strong presence on search engines. For example, the site ranks on page one of Google for several high traffic keywords.
Steampunk Heaven has consistently generated anywhere from $1,500 to $7,000 in net profit almost every month since I started the business. Since the fairly recent switch to Google Shopping ads as the primary sales driver in September 2018, the average net profit per month has been somewhere in the $1,500 - $3,000 range.
In December 2018 I did not run ANY email campaigns nor did I attempt to tweak or scale my ads at ALL. This is because I was focusing on my other business, so that is why the revenue is slightly lower that month compared to the previous 3.
The reason I am selling this online business is because I am trying to focus 100% of my time and effort on my other business. Because of this, I have spent significantly less time this year working on and growing Steampunk Heaven.
I've essentially been letting it run on autopilot and just doing the bare minimum in terms of keeping the site up and running, fulfilling orders, keeping my audience and followers engaged, and handling customer support. This currently takes up about 5 - 10 hours per week for me. It is for this reason primarily that 2017 showed a higher revenue compared to 2018. I spent significantly less time in 2018 adding new products/content, testing new ad campaigns on Facebook/Instagram/Google, and sending out new email campaigns.
Steampunk Heaven has been evaluated as worth $72,770 by Shopify. I am selling it for just $17,999. The reason for this is twofold. First, every additional hour spent running this website takes valuable time and energy away from building and growing my other business. Second, the upfront proceeds of this sale will be used to fund larger investments in my other business. So essentially, I am willing to offer up this business at a HUGE discount relative to what it's worth, in order to secure a quick sale.
This purchase includes not only this almost fully automated dropshipping/print on demand website, but also all of its 8,800+ email leads, previous successful email campaigns, 47,000+ social media followers, social media accounts, past/present Google/Facebook/Instagram ads, product photos, logos, marketing materials, print on demand designs, and all other relevant assets.
I will also provide support for one full month after the sale where I will help teach everything I know about this business to ensure a smooth and easy transition. This includes creating/running ads (Facebook/Instagram/Google), adding new products to the store, fulfilling orders, answering customer support emails, etc...
This is a GREAT opportunity for those that want to build off an already successful dropshipping/print on demand based online business.
A new owner can EASILY increase the sales and profit of this store by investing just a bit more time than I did in 2018 (again, typically 5 - 10 hours per week).
This is an almost fully automated online business with large growth potential. A new owner can scale this business relatively easily by investing a bit more time per week than I did. Again, in 2018 I only spent 5 - 10 hours per week working on this business. I essentially did the bare minimum to keep the site up and running, fulfill orders, keep my audience and followers engaged, and handle customer support.
The purchase also comes with all relevant assets including email leads & campaigns, social media followers & accounts, Google/Facebook/Instagram ads, photos, logos, designs, and all other business assets.
Additionally I will provide support for 1 month after the sale to teach everything I know about this online business and to ensure a smooth transition.
In addition to all of this, you are also buying an established and and relatively well known brand within this niche. Our ads have reached millions of people around the world.
Lastly, hundreds if not thousands of hours of work have already been put into this online business in terms of branding, styling, putting up products, building a social media following, growing an email list, search engine optimization, market and product research, content creation, follow up email sequences, etc... All of this has already been done for you.
I believe that the future owner can improve this business (and revenue) by scaling up the currently running Google ads and also revisiting the previously successful Facebook and Instagram ads.
Additionally, adding new products and advertising them to existing followers/leads/customers through social media and email campaigns can be highly lucrative. In 2018 I barely had the time to test and add additional products to the store so I mostly relied on past "winning products" from 2017 to drive sales and revenue. I think there is a HUGE opportunity here that future owners can take advantage of as I believe a lot of the existing followers/leads/customers are hungry for new items in this niche.
Utilizing Instagram influencers is an advertising medium that I think could drive tons of revenue. In addition, other platforms like YouTube and Pinterest could potentially be huge for this niche with regards to paid and organic traffic. These are areas that I have not personally explored too much.
Lastly, I believe the email list and social media accounts for this business could be utilized more efficiently. I generally averaged one "big" promotional campaign about once every 1.5 months in 2018, with some smaller promotions/flash sales sprinkled in occasionally. I believe a new owner could ramp this up A LOT, especially if new products are consistently added.
This online business has been running for the past 3 years (2016 was with WordPress/WooCommerce). I put thousands of hours of work into building the website, styling the user interface, optimizing for conversions, uploading new products, search engine optimization, building a social media following, growing an email list, and creating/managing ad, email, and social media campaigns.
The entire website including the user interface, apps, settings, and page flows have been optimized for conversions and maximizing the average order value.
In 2018, after all of the previous foundational work had already been done, I typically spent 5 - 10 hours per week maintaining and running this business.

Other details about profit: Since switching primarily to Google ads and email marketing as the main sales drivers in September 2018 (due to time commitment reasons covered in the description above), the business has been averaging about $1,500 to $3,000 in net profit each month. The profit margin is around 30% which is fairly standard for Shopify. I believe using organic and free traffic sources can help increase this margin significantly.

If I weren't selling this store, I would immediately start working on adding new products to this store. I would focus a bit more on print on demand items and really building out unique items for the brand.
I would scaling up existing revenue drivers such as Google ads and email marketing. I would also revisit Facebook/Instagram ads and start exploring new channels such as YouTube, Pinterest, and influencer marketing.
No specific skills or knowledge are required, but knowing how to create and manage Facebook/Instagram/Google ad campaigns can help a lot. Additionally, knowing the basics of email marketing would help.
