We discovered Shopify early June and decided to try our hand in drop shipping. Upon finding these adorable bow ties with matching leashes, we began building our brand and website. As proud owners of rescue dogs, we strive for a future where every dog has a home and therefore we have donated 10% of our profits to local animal shelters. As new owners, we worked tirelessly on creating a beautiful website, modifying product pictures, optimizing SEO, and building a social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We have also set up Klaviyo for automatic email marketing for abandoned cart, browse abandonment, welcome email series, and thank you emails. We also have many apps linked to our website, one of which is Privy for spin-the-wheel which we have found great success in building our emailing list. This is a drop shipping store so there is no need to hold inventory. Our supplier is through AliExpress and is very friendly and responds quickly -- we have a good working relationship. Our margins are currently 50% but we feel there is room to increase up to 60-70% margins. We offer free shipping to customers as we know shipping rates can deter potential customers. Most of our customers come from Facebook and Instagram Ads. We have found our target audience through these ads which makes retargeting through ads a whole lot easier. We also discovered which ad images work best through split testing. We have performed various advertising through Facebook for $5/day, usually lasting around 12-14 days for a promotion (i.e. 20% off, limited time only). On Instagram, we have many pictures of dogs wearing our product. We are currently doing a giveaway for reaching over 500 Instagram users to generate more leads and more followers. We have had huge success with spin-the-wheel via Privy app. This has allowed us to generate a substantial email list in just under 2 months. We use Klaviyo to send email campaigns, We are selling this company and all accounts associated with it due to personal reasons and because of that, we will no longer be able to dedicate the same care and attention to our company. We are looking for a potential buyer who will continue our company's vision and bring style and fashion to all dogs and animals. We pride ourselves in the meticulous work we put into all of our social media platforms and are proud to pass that onto the next amazing owner of this website. Ordered samples from supplier to take pictures of my own dogs wearing the product. All images (published and unpublished) will be given over to the buyer for the continued success of the store.

How to grow this business

I would definitely try to incorporate more dog-related products. I have done a lot of research in other companies who sell dog-related products and many of them sell a variety of items on their site. For example, one website would have dog collars, leashes, grooming supplies, dog costumes, outdoor supplies, dog beds, etc. I think this would make the store a more wholesome experience, sort of like a one-stop-shop. This is what I would do in the next 5 years.

Skills to have

Social on Instagram and knowledgeable on Facebook Ads. There is a huge potential for scale-ability through Instagram, utilizing Instagram influencers (send sample products for a shout out or brand ambassador). We get a lot of visitors to the website through Facebook Ads and we feel this would play a huge role in the success of the store.
