Why this business was started

This website was born out of a desire to learn two things at once. I (the founding owner) wanted to sharpen my internet marketing skills as well as learn more about the hobby of amateur astronomy. I actually work FT (in internet marketing) so this store was designed to create a supplemental income for my family.

I decided on the USA manufacturer-direct dropship model for two reasons: 1) because the profit turnaround from start to finish can be fairly quick depending on how hard you work and 2) the up-front costs are typically pretty low. There was something very exciting about selling physical products to REAL people without needing a warehouse, storage unit etc. It was also a great feeling realizing that I could manage all the aspects of this website (Google Shopping, FB remarketing, email marketing, customer service, etc) on my own without needing to outsource it.

The reason of selling this business

Simply put, we found out that we do not prefer the drop shipping model and are pursuing other projects. We want to sell products that we do, in fact, touch, see, and feel. Also, this particular niche requires a team of writers and support specialists that we currently do not have. This website would be the perfect project for science enthusiasts with a strong online, entrepreneurial-minded team marketing team. Our competition’s online game is weak; there are only a handful of physical showroom stores in the US. If you can create an environment for the new hobbyists in the niche to learn (Email flow, free on-site courses, FB lives, webinars, etc) you will do very well. But, if you are looking to just sell boxes, this store is most certainly not for you.
