Why this business was started

We were inspired by the "support local" initiative & were looking for a way to support our local independent business community at the start of the pandemic, while creating a sustainable and scalable long term service offering.

While we have seen very encouraging support from both our vendor partners & consumers, we have conflicting demands on our time & focus & are unable to dedicate the personal resources required to grow the business to the heights we believe can be achieved.

With the vendor partnerships already established, the day to day operations are quite simple : responding to emails, social media campaigns & engagement, order tracking, order delivery (on specified delivery days) There is also ongoing efforts to bring new vendors onboard & tailor/tweak product offerings & "special seasonal buys" to keep the site current.

As well, in June 2021 we increased our fee to 20% of the total order + the delivery charge ($6 local, $10, rural) We also offer holiday box programs for both consumers & corporations that net 15-20% The business has no debt and has been self sustaining since August, 2020

    How to grow this business

    With the initial test market established, we would continue to add new vendors the fit within the concept of our offerings. From there we would add a second location in a comparable market size to prove the "franchise" model & recognize operational synergies. The ultimate vision for the business is to have owner/operator franchises in all communities with a highly recognizable brand (ala doordash & skip the dishes) but for retail and market goods.

    Skills to have

    Anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen can thrive and be successful with this business. Conceptually it is simplistic to operate, while offering the consumer the complexity of choice they desire. The key skills are a god work ethic and determination. All of the practical knowledge can be easily transferred or learned.
