Sweet Bee Apothecary is an organic, all natural skin and hair care product line. All of the products are made with all natural and organic ingredients, packaged in reusable and recyclable materials. FAQs: How much time do you spend on the business each week? During peak sales times, I spent about 20 hours per week. On average, I spent between 10-15 hours per week on marketing, product production and shipping. What skills do I need to run the business? Basic business acumen - knowledge of bill of materials to understand the P&L of the business. The formulas for each of the products sold are included in the sale price. Can you tell me more about the business model? This business was based entirely on direct sales. In order to scale, the buyer will need to invest in obtaining certification for their kitchen or rent time in a certified production facility. With that certification, it would be a straight forward process to move to a direct and retail distribution model. What type of marketing do you do to attract customers? All of the marketing was via social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). An investment into product photos, before and after photos from customers. I have a deep understanding of social media marketing and would be willing to consult with the buyer to help re-start the business. What are some things I could do to improve the business? In order to grow this business, the buyer would want to invest into a certified production facility in order to obtain organic certifications. We explored getting certifications required to sell consumable products, as well as developing a product accessory line to compliment the existing offerings (eg sponges, bath towels, candles, etc).
