Why this business was started

I started Talula (Talula is my 3 children's names put together!) as I found a huge gap in the market for appropriate, quality clothing for this age. The struggle for these girls is real and heart breaking as mother.

When I started Talula is was about the clothing, however as it evolved and I got talking to the girls, I saw their eyes light up when they put the clothes on, so it became more about self confidence, beauty within, friendships, community and accepting of yourself and others for who they are. I want them to know they have a community to reach out to when they feel alone and also to feel comfortable on the inside as well as the outside. I believe Talula gives them the freedom to do this.

The reason of selling this business

I am selling as I don't have the time it now requires to take it to the next level.

There is so much potential now covid is in our lives and has made us more aware of buying local and I believe Talula will become a household name for someone who has the time and wants to put the effort in to taking it above and beyond.

Lots of social and digital marketing so that means google ads, Facebook, instagram and subscriber campaigns, fulfilling orders, creating and producing new items, purchasing fabric, sample making, website and Shopify updates, photography, finding models, blogging.

    How to grow this business

    My plan for the next five years was to spend more money on advertising, creating a new collection and start a boys range.

    I see growth opportunities with the boys range using the Dropshipping store Printful which I use for my current active and swimwear range.

    As Talula is only 2 years old there are further opportunities with new collections and also selling into Australia and then in the future overseas.

    Skills to have

    Social and digital Marketing would be a huge benefit and some creative design, however I have a designer you can use and have been in contact with digital agencies that can also help if you need.

    Shopify is really easy to use and they have many people to help you when you need it.
