Business Story

Why this business was started

I started this to fill the gap I saw in subscription boxes for moms and babies but also to start my path of entrepreneurship to stay home with my 2 young children.

The reason of selling this business

I have started another business which is product based and don't have the means or time to upkeep both.

What's involved in running this business

Sourcing products, fulfilling orders, ordering from suppliers, marketing/advertising, product photography.

This business was founded: over 3 years ago
Time to run this business: approximately 2 hours per week

Other details about profit: Prior to the pandemic we attended baby shows and sold products there. Our profit has declined over the past 6 months or so due to my focus on the other company and many products out of stock from suppliers because of Covid 19.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

Use Google Ads and Facebook Ads (retargeting). Get photography done of each of the boxes to show what is included. Continue the shop aspect because many customers love the individual brands we carry and come to us to buy (in Canada) and love the option to purchase some of the items found in our boxes. We plan to keep our social media account and convert it so you will need to grow a new following - you will be able to use the @thebabymamabox handle because we will be changing it.

    Skills to have

Experience with marketing (google/facebook ads) and using Shopify to make website changes and updates. Should also have some knowledge in the baby space to know what products are popular and trending to keep them stocked in the shop/boxes.

    Why use Exchange?

Exchange is the largest and fastest-growing marketplace for Shopify e-commerce stores

    Verified listing data

The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.

    Secure messaging platform

You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.

    Encrypted payment capture

Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.

Take time to inspect the business

Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.

    Safe store transfer

When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.

    Post-purchase 24/7 Shopify support

Once you log into your Shopify account for the first time and choose a subscription plan, Shopify Support Gurus are available 24/7 to help you with the settings of the store.
