Business Story

Why this business was started

Noticed the developing trend of wood watches and felt we could provide a better, more fashionable product with better branding and superior customer service. We knew these watches were statement pieces that would get a lot of attention. The unique material and shapes standout. Customers constantly email us about the positive comments and attention the watches receive.

General description

The Garwood is a wood watch ecommerce business established in Los Angeles, CA. in January 2014 on Squarespace and transisted to Shopify in April 2017. See detailed descriptions for more explanation on the data.

As one of the first wood watch brands in the United States we designed our styles to stand out and be "conversation starting" timepieces. A proven concept many of our fans will attest to. We have gained a large social media following and mentions in publications such as British GQ and Esquire. We have an ongoing collaboration with Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams, who has designed 2 styles for The Garwood and we have managed to diversify our collection to feature square and round styles for both men and women.

We wish to sell to the right person or team as we are moving into other industries and looking for someone to take care of our baby.

Please note that all marketing was seized per January 1, 2018, due to the sale. We pushed a small Father Day campaign in June which reflects in the sales peak below.

Why should someone buy this store?

Excellent gross profit margins (70%).

Included inventory represents a higher value (SRP) than our asking price.

Worldwide sales.

Proven concept (revenue since launch in 2014: $900,000).

Positive reviews from happy customers.

Large social media following (40.000 between IG and FB).

The new owner should be someone with marketing skills that is able to drive quality traffic and take The Garwood to the next level.

How can the future owner improve the business?

Effective marketing.

Drive quality traffic.

Expand inventory selection.

Manage affiliate program (100 verified affiliates on own platform).

What work have you put into the store?

Professional design, packaging, images & film.

Well functioning, Search Engine Optimized website.

Professional AdWords campaigns to build on.

SoMe retargeting campaigns to build on.

Large IG and FB followings.

Transferable relationships with manufacturer and fulfillment partner.

Since its inception in 2014, The Garwood has been a side project for a friend and I. We have generated a good amount of revenue over the years ($900,000) but also realize that we have not given The Garwood the attention it deserves over the past year. And since we are moving into other industries that require our undivided attention, we wish to sell the business to someone who has the desire to make the business thrive again.

We have optimized and perfected the products over the years and gone through the mandatory ups and downs of launching a brand new product, placing the business in a good position for someone new to take over. We are of course happy to share all these learnings with the new owner.
