Why this business was started
Out of college, the owners wanted to build a business that would allow for a more passive form of income. After much research, we came across drop shipping. From here, we spent a lot of time building many different sites for different products. This is the one site that worked from the get go.
The reason of selling this business
With changing life priorities, we are just no longer interested in putting our time and effort into selling trampolines. We have implemented few strategies that immediately brought us to a point of profitability but have lost the interest in improving the site beyond these initial strategies (and of course these strategies will be disclosed at the time of sale). Because of our lack of effort, we have seen a decline in business and have decided it is time to sell it to someone more driven.
What's involved in running this business
As of now, we spend about 15 minutes a week updating a few spots on the site and ads. Then, we fill out an order form or send an email with order information. This is the only work we have done to the site in quite some time.
Trusted Trampolines is a drop shipping site with almost no other fixed overhead costs than the monthly Shopify fee. We specialize in selling only the highest quality, safest trampolines. Because of this, all of our above ground trampolines listed have safety nets. This means that we are currently only listing roughly 150 products which is a portion of the available products from our 7 manufacturers/suppliers. Maintaining the website takes under just 15 minutes per week and we are willing to walk the buyer through all of the processes and SOPs we have in place.
For those unfamiliar with drop shipping, this is a business method which allows us to list products previously approved by our manufacturers/suppliers without bulk ordering large amounts of inventory up front. Rather, once an order is placed for a product on our site, we simply forward this order to the appropriate manufacturer/supplier and purchase this product at their drop ship price, collecting the difference as our profit. This removes the risk of laying out large amounts of cash to bulk order inventory which makes the buying process a seamless and simple transition.

Because this is a drop ship store, maintenance takes less than 15 minutes per week with little to no risk since there are no large up front costs for inventory. It is an extremely easy business to manage which permits a flexible lifestyle, allowing you to work whenever, from wherever in the world.
How can the future owner improve the business?
My partner and I had almost no marketing experience. We believe a future owner can look into other marketing channels. Almost all of our sales came from paid ads through Google or organic Google searches. An owner with more in depth marketing knowledge could implement things such as automated email funnels, back linking, and improved SEO at no cost. We believe this would be the next step in growing the store. Additionally, bringing on more suppliers or adding more items from current suppliers would offer a larger catalog and in turn, larger potential market. And of course, with our limited knowledge, we are sure there are many ways outside of those listed that our site could be improved upon.
What work have you put into the store?
This site took roughly 3 months to build prior to contacting manufacturers/suppliers. From there, it has been a growing process to increase sales to their current level. We also continue to contact new suppliers to expand our product catalog and have recently implemented a new theme which greatly improves the overall look of the site.
