Business Story

Why this business was started

You will get both domains: one for the main blog and shop. Email me if you wish to see the other domain.

Here's your chance to own a thriving online business. UCAN Outdoor is a brand that inspires adventure travel and new experiences through the use of blogs, testimonies, accessories and apparel. We give back with each order. A portion is donated to provide 10 meals and help plant 3 trees! These are original products, no dropshipping, made right from the supplier through shopify. The groundwork is already set up for the store. This outdoor-themed clothing store has HUGE potential. It is in an in-demand niche with plenty of variety to go around. I am an entrepreneur and web-designer part-time; also active duty military full-time. It has unlimited potential as we were one of the first ones to not only market the pacific northwest, but the Midwest as well. Our logo stands for Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico because they meet at the Four Corners Monument. The initial belief was that like those states, we’d bring people together among the wild. Sales keep going up each quarter and have not yet reached its full potential. We have inventory but the majority are primarily online. The new owner may want to exercise your creativity – the best part. I have built the whole business by myself and I know all about the industry and the business itself. I am able to help out after the sale of the company where need be. We have been able to create a great following on social media platforms and our products are amazing. Everyone loves our products and we have only received positive reviews!

Theme [$180 Value x2], Ads [$5-100] Depending on your budget and how quickly you want exposure. Ads are bread and butter. Without them, we have a pretty consistent following and an active social presence. We receive a good amount of daily visits. With ads, this triples the traffic going to our social media pages and eventually the website. The new owner will get: 1. The business, catchy domain and business name – UCAN Outdoor 2. An email list with over 50 names 3. The social media accounts to include Instagram (13,000 active followers) and Facebook 4. Dozens of professionally made logos, graphics, designs, and our two personal collections 5. Model pictures, access to influencers/brand ambassadors 6. Physical Inventory ($300 value Shirts and stickers) 7. Google Ads and Google Account (with business address information to change) 8. An amazingly crafted, SEO-enabled webpage that pulls in potential customers with its imagery, colors, and bright blog (home page). 9. Access to the private ambassador Facebook group

The reason of selling this business

Due to personal reasons, I have decided to sell this established profitable website. My wife and I love the outdoors, hiking, traveling, etc. and thought it’d be amazing to sport our own gear while we’re out. We did just that. I don’t want to sell this beauty, however, we are now expecting and priorities are with the family. We won’t have time to run this store. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

What's involved in running this business

Having a plan. Write it out for what you want for the next year or 3-5. Because it's March, now is a great time to get running for the tail end of spring and definitely summer. I would run the same campaign and market one or two shirts. Then, when you're comfortable focus on introducing new t-shirt and/or hat designs. While doing this, maintain a social media presence so that when you are ready to release something new you already have an interested group.

Primarily, the future owner of the business can improve it by dedicating resources to digital ads, marketing, budgeting, and being able to have fun with it. We have developed the branding, built the website, obtained marketing assets, and built a healthy social media following, so most of the work is already done.

I’ve used Facebook and Instagram marketing. Facebook marketing is solid for bringing people to the webpage. Instagram is capable of this too, however, I found most success bringing people to the instagram page and receiving orders from there. Also, because we do have causes (I also write for mental health), people are more willing to get involved and support. I had one customer, after he received his items, question me about our purpose and mission… he was seriously engaged! These types of relationships will ensure word of mouth and lasting customers.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

The new owner would focus on marketing, ad spend, and making new designs. I would also hire influencers and start a lookbook. The best apparel stores have many models wearing their clothing! Build upon these and expand to a physical location within 5 years.

It has a very unique brand image and has the potential to make a lot of money with Facebook/Instagram ads. This isn’t a dropshipping business, its one that can be personal to you and your friends/family etc. You can make it your own and expand from there. I have put many hours into building the overall branding of this store. I have paid to have professional models and photography taken with the product for the website and the social media channels. We have also had search engine optimization done to the product pages to drive organic traffic to the website. I have also built the loyal following of people who are true to the brand and it’s message.

The groundwork is done. There is always things to do behind the scenes, however, this is a business that is self-sufficient, it will be what you make it.

    Skills to have

None really. I'm casually learning myself. Just the drive to do something for yourself, it's fun gettiing away from the 9 to 5 and seeing something positive and lucrative come out. I would suggest basic computer knowledge (google/youtube), learn how to write a short blog/ask to repost someone else's or bring in a friend to write for you (this can help keep customers). Photoshop is not a must, however, it helps with creating new designs that you want to make personal. I had a lot of fun with this. Also, social media. Everything will be done through here. Think, each holiday/season is a reason to blast emails and to give out deals. Interact with those on social media and the new owner will be on their way.
