Business Story

Why this business was started

Boutique clothing for my twin daughters was very expensive so I decided to create my own and offer bargain prices to others. I also love seeing others wearing outfits I designed.

The reason of selling this business

My girls have grown up and are not into the boutique style anymore. Also I stopped advertising the business in 2020 due to health problems that have made it difficult to manage.

What's involved in running this business

There are 3 ways I aquired products to sell. 1) Creating outfit/ideas and getting samples from suppliers, 2) Creating graphics and pressing them on "blank" tops/bottoms, 3) Dropshipping or buying inventory directly from our suppliers. You could outsource the fulfillment side of things or use the software we spent $30K+ developing over the years to ship yourself.

This business was founded: over 7 years ago
Time to run this business: approximately 8 hours per week

Description

General description

If you are looking for a more hands off approach then I would suggest using the built in app for dropshipping. We have a few suppliers that have been great to work with. Or you can run ideas by them and create your own designs and even create your own graphics for use on the $20K+ inventory I still have that will be included. If you struggle finding what sells then you can get clues from competitors and also from the suppliers dropship sales data.

Why should someone buy this store?

Finding good suppliers, building a website, customer base and growing a social media following takes a lot of time, work and money. If you buy my store you will have a huge head-start and advantage in the industry. Also the children's clothing marketing is growing and there is the potential to bring in 8 figures per year.

How can the future owner improve the business?

If you ship orders fast you will get many repeat customers. All of the holidays especially Halloween will bring in a lot of sales so be prepared with enough inventory.

What work have you put into the store?

Sourced reliable suppliers, spent $30K+ developing fulfillment/warehousing software, spent over $1M on Facebook ads to grow a 650K+ fan page and 250K+ customers.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

I would test many outfits/designs for the season/holiday as we did over the years and then stock inventory on the popular items. We would mainly focus on pre-orders in the past, however, the boutique clothing industry prefers getting orders fast so more profit and a better LTV can be achieved this way.

    Skills to have

The majority of our sales came from Facebook sales and product updates via email. So you will want to know how to create ads and send email campaigns. Also I designed most of the outfits/items, if you need help with this I can suggest a designer that I worked with when I wanted to design items faster. Our suppliers are also good to work with and can design items with you that will sell.

I am a mom of twin daughters that loved wearing cute boutique clothing. So I started my own brand that quickly took off in 2014. Now that my girls are no longer toddlers I am selling my business.
