Why this business was started

I got the idea for this business whenever I was searching for products to sell in early February. I came across a UV product that charged your phone wirelessly and sanitized it all at the same time. Not only is the product convenient, but it has a unique look that makes it stand out from the rest of the other UV cleaning products. After finding a good supplier that shipped the product in 4-7 days, I decided to create a 1 product store. I made sure to brand the store so that if the product didn't work out, I would still be able to sell similar products within the UV product niche. I even took the liberty in ordering the product and creating my own custom video ads and photos to help with branding. While doing all this, I realized the demand for sanitization products and new cleaning solutions started to blow up because of the ongoing pandemic that has people searching and buying products like these. I really do believe that even after this pandemic is over, people will begin to be more conscious of keeping their personal items clean, and that UV products will be the future answer to modern sanitizing. Unfortunately, I am leaving the dropshipping space, as I run another business that requires majority of my time, which would be needed to really take this business to the next level.

The reason of selling this business

While I was building this store, I was also running another business outside of dropshipping which I didn't think would take up to much of my time. Unfortunately, this store got the short end of the stick while I had to allocate majority of my time towards the other business and school. If I had spent more time adding and testing new products to the store, it would have taken off a lot quicker. I know this because I have been watching other competitors and businesses within this niche take off and even sell out of their products.

What's involved in running this business

As far as running the business goes, there is not much, other than fulfilling orders through Oberlo, and answering a couple customer emails once in a blue moon. Driving traffic is where you will spend most of your time running this store. Creating and managing ads is what propels this business.

Other details about profit: The first month I made no profits as I was building data to scale. After building some data, I was able to run LLAs on video views and view content pages, which resulted in the revenue for April, leaving me with about $150 in profit. If you were to scale using LLAs on add to carts (enough data has been collected), then im sure this would be a lot more profitable.

    How to grow this business

    If I were to take this business and grow it to 6 figures, I would start by testing new products within the UV cleaning products niche. But first, I would continue to sell the product that is originally being sold on the store using facebook ads and running LLAs from add to carts to drive traffic and possibly get a better ROAS. Then I would add winning UV products to the store, and test new ad creatives while using audiences from the data I have already collected. All the data and audiences I have already created should still work with any other UV product as it is all in the same niche. After finding the right combination of product and ad creative, I would then test new audiences or narrow down to get the best ROAS.

    Skills to have

    I designed and created the whole store myself, the only knowledge or experience you would need is fulfilling orders and being able to run ads. If you have been learning about facebook ads or dropshipping, this store would be great for you if you didn't want to spend the upfront money testing a niche and building data to work with. Plus, you will get the $200 theme I used to created the website, along with all the facebook data and tools you need to be successful.
