Why this business was started

My wife and I started this business last May 2017 because we wanted to give ecom a shot. We were looking for an online stream of revenue, and decided to try dropshipping as we had friends in the industry who did well with it. It took us about 3 months of testing different products and spending well over $10,000 of adspend to finally have a seasoned pixel on FB and consistent sales. We discovered our store is seasonal (Q4) but understand our audience very well and have strong indicators of our next winning product for the new season.

The reason of selling this business

We are selling the business because my wife is pregnant and I have a new job opportunity starting in Jan. so we will not have time to take care of everything. (Although it is minimal work as of now - about 5 hours a week - to scale it and have the store reach its full potential requires more time, effort, and energy that we cannot commit to at this time)

We also have other ventures we are pursuing in 2019 that would take up most of our time and focus.

What's involved in running this business

The store is seasonal, but can do very well in Q4. more details in other sections. Right now it's simply ad management on FB (you can also work with influencers). We fulfill orders out of our home office. We could hire someone to do it for us, but as of now we take care of all the fulfillment. There is customer service via emails. And we use shipstation to print out all our labels and shipping needs.

We have been selling 1 winning product from last year and this year. We have a very good idea of the next winning product for next year already as we have had a lot of inquiry about it this year.

Other details about profit: So the winning product we have sells for $45-55. We buy the product from China and have it shipped to the US for about $5.50. it costs $2.66 to ship with USPS standard shipping. It then depends on how much it costs to make a sale. On FB it's about $20-30 cost per purchase for cold audiences (during Q4) and about $5-15 on retargeting campaigns. Profits are good and we have all the audiences created in FB account, which buyer will also receive. We will also transfer our inventory to you and help you get everything setup to run the store how you want it.

    How to grow this business

    I would take our winning products, and create a new store specifically relating those type of products in that niche. I would offer more complementary items since we know who our audience is. Our fb pixel knows how to find the right buyers for our niche, and we know the type of ads and creatives that will help with sales of the items.

    Then we would scale much much wider for the following years.
