Why this business was started

I've always wanted a hobby which generates REAL additional income! Many of my friends would buy cars, pay for luxury holidays and manage to supplement their lavish lifestyle by just doing something they loved in their spare time, something which paid off. As we are all different, I personally was never attracted of the opportunity in breeding exotic pets or run a guest house in order to achieve that. All I had was love and flare for Alternative Fashion...a laptop and a cellphone. One day a friend of mine mentioned that she's heard about Shopify by someone and that a lot of people would make substantial amount of cash by opening and running their own online stores. What even attracted me to Shopify even more was the fact that one didn't have to manufacture themselves something to sell but rather could drop-ship from AliExpress. And AliExpress has it all! Their service is great and after purchasing many Alternative Fashion items for myself I was really impressed with the customer service and quality. I select all products carefully to what the demand is as well as affordability (you can get all that by using filters in AliExpress). All pieces have grunge/goth/punk look, so much fun for lovers of skulls, Gothic romance & Dark Fashion. The response to my products on social media is amazing! I especially enjoy selling through Wearable Tattoo's Instagram account. I have always believed that great customer service is a must for any successful business so I engage with all my followers, advise them on sizes, colors and generally keep on motivating interest in Wearable Tattoo's products. That is how and why I began my Shopify journey! It truly is a revolutionary way of running an online business. There's enormous potential in revenue growth due to the uniqueness of the store which caters for a niche of alternative fashion lovers!

The reason of selling this business

I have obtained new full time professional position which doesn't allow spare time for the business. I am based in South Africa and the only payment option available for a drop-shipper is PayPal which limits and restricts my opportunities.

What's involved in running this business

I am proud to say that Wearable Tattoo is in the top 5% with website traffic of all Shopify businesses which opened in the same week as me! The best part of all is that is absolutely free. Wearable Tattoo stopped doing paid adds completely some time ago and now I enjoys the benefits of a lot of free traffic which is the reward of hard work and building initial stepping stones. Every successful business requires constant work and persistence. Re-investing in the business by some paid Google adds will definitely help to take the store to a new level. Great Instagram adds will also bring new customers and increase revenue however I preferred to stick to free advertising due to unexpected personal financial obligations i the past 6 months. Please note that the business receives inquiries from many influencers almost daily which can be very beneficial in creating adds and original art work for the brand. Posting regularly on Instagram is a must! I download 3-4 different photographs on the same product and repeat to advertise it by spacing the post of the same thing every 2-3 weeks. I browse AliExpress for new fashion while having a tea break and generally always manage to find fresh new items for the store and those products get listed on Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr. I personally do not post on Facebook often as a business account is always linked to a personal account and I prefer to keep my hobby/store more private however that can be changed. Pinterest has definitely brought a lot of traffic and sales to the store. There are some very important Apps which are connected to Wearable Tattoo, some free and some paid. Oberlo is an amazing App which allows for a store to have total of 500 products for free which had been enough for the size of this business and may be increased should you decide to grow further. Oberlo makes it very easy to order products, automatically updates prices whenever a supplier changes their cost and shows items' availability. AliExpress reviews links all product reviews to the store which is very important as most customers are likely to seek others' reviews before purchasing. Another important App linked to Wearable Tattoo is Currency converter which automatically converts the currency according to the clients' location, making it easy to sell worldwide. Up until now about 80% of the store's customers reside in USA. However other main countries with a lot of interest in the brand are based in UK, Australia, Germany, Netherlands & Russia. The store has a blog page. There are several blog posts which I wrote some time ago linked to the topic of Alternative fashion. There is a great benefit of blogging as that brings free traffic with time and Wearable Tattoo is already enjoying that benefit. The store has many subscribers and monthly I would send bulk emails to all with latest products. There is an awesome free App linked to the store which helps you to generate professional email marketing with buttons leading to the selected products directly. As customer service is of most importance to a Shopify store our response to customers is always within 24 hours of their query/request. There is a T&C page which is required to be ticked by the buyer before purchasing. That ensures customers' and also store's protection from various issues like cancellations & refunds.
