Business Story

Why this business was started

I started this business so I could get into ecommerce and have a business online. I wanted to create another stream of income in addition to my other income earning opportunities. I learned how to start the business from an ecommerce business guru and got this business up and running in no time.

The reason of selling this business

I've decided to sell the business because I don't have the time to put into it. The business is running with little maintenance and I know that won't last it has to be worked.

What's involved in running this business

Creating and split testing ads, finding products to split test and advertise. Monitoring ads, weekly emails to customers. Weekly posts to Facebook

This business was founded: about 2 years ago
Time to run this business: approximately 1 hour per week

Description

General description

Wearable Tech Devices is a company that offers affordable wearable technology that you can rely on and brought right to your door. Over the last few months I've sourced some of the best wearable products on the internet and I'm bring them to my customers at an affordable cost. I chose this niche because research shows that fitness trackers and wireless headsets are going to be 2 of the biggest products sold on ecommerce sites and these are my core products. Wearable Technology would be anything you wear that's wireless and can connect to a device like your phone. Some examples are wireless headsets, fitness trackers, smart watches, smart rings and heart rate monitors to name a few. I went live with the business around November 2017 and around January the business took off. The only reason I'm selling the store is I don't have time to put into it to grow it and monitor the ads. I have 2 other businesses that demand around 12 hours a day of my time and weekends.

Why should someone buy this store?

It's up and running with a lot of analytics, it's great for a new owner because the hard work has been done. My tripwire product sells as well as other wireless devices on the site. It has one of the best themes on the internet already integrated. I have hot products that sell well. This store has 2 of the top ecommerce products with wireless headsets and fitness trackers. The ground work has been laid for this business. The theme is awesome, the products are marked up about 50% and there's room to increase. My top products are a Mini Wireless Headset, this a single headset that has been a hit it's small enough to wear around and not even notice it's on. I have the Twins Wireless Headsets, these have also been a hit, especially in the gym. This product sells 80% less than the major competitor. The Smart Ring has been a big hit for those who want to track their steps and HR but don't want a watch or band this is perfect. Our fitness trackers and Smart watches are doing well. These devices can track your sleep, HR, steps and much more. One of my other top products has been wireless speakers, I sell a product that's waterproof and you can put it in the shower and this product sells well.

How can the future owner improve the business?

Someone can improve this business by doing VIDEOS!! I just haven't had a chance to do any videos, videos with any ads and it will fly!! I also haven't had a chance to do any Instagram, Pintrest, Google +, Google Adwords, Bing...I've only done Facebook, I created IG and Twitter accounts for the business but haven't been able to focus on marketing to them. There's tons of room to grow marketing on other sites. Also, test more products, wearable tech is huge and there are other products that could be tested, with more expensive products and different types of ads. The upsells and cross sells could be improved as well, I've only used the upsell that's part of my theme and some apps. I haven't done much with testing Landing Pages for my upsells and cross sells. Bigger ad budgets with my look alike audiences would increase sales. The sales dipped around April because I had to decrease my ad budget because of other financial obligations.

What work have you put into the store?

I built the store from the ground up. I came up with niche. I bought the domain name, created the site, linked it to shopify with Aliexpress and source all vendors and products. I created the email campaigns that I have. Created the logo, website content, everything. I've got photos I paid to have taken of several products as well. I've tested many ads and many campaigns with many different products. I've tried different themes and now have a great theme. I've set up the Mailchimp autosponders and weekly blasts. Currently I have a FB, IG and Twitter account, I have about 4800 subscribers via Mailchimp and I market weekly to my list. I have a very nice shoptimized theme as well. Everything I've put into the biz will be a part of the sale. I currently dropship through Aliexpress.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

I would create video content for my main product and every product there after I was marketing. I would get IG, Twitter, Google etc ads going. I would test more products to go to market and I would continue to source for new products.

I started this business as a part time business to get into the online ecommerce space. I currently have 2 businesses that demand a lot of my time. I day trade and I have a payroll business as well. On top of that I work at my church about 35 hours a week as well. I have a very full plate. I am a sales and business professional with many years of experience in both and I also served 10 years in the US Army.
