Business Story

Why this business was started

This business was mainly started to help pay rent and school tuition. I decided to go with a Christmas store because the holiday season is my favorite, and I had plenty of design ideas for Christmas apparel.

The reason of selling this business

I am selling this business because I am graduating this semester and will be focusing on getting a job in my field of study.

What's involved in running this business

To run this business, you will need to run advertising campaigns, fulfill orders, stay in contact with suppliers/agents to make sure your orders are being fulfilled, and provide customer support through email.

This business was founded: about 2 years ago
Time to run this business: approximately 15 hours per week

Other details about profit: The average orders/profit per month is an estimate on a 12 month calendar. This store is a seasonal store and is meant to be run in the 4th Quarter of the year, so you can expect higher profits and monthly orders than reported. To better understand what I mean, with about $125,000 in revenue made in the first 4th Quarter that I ran this, I made about $70,000 in profit. The last 4th Quarter I made about $22,000 in revenue but only about $8,000 in profit. This was partially due to COVID and partially due to the fact that I did not run my own ads and try to optimize them. I instead had someone else run my ads, just to make sure there were sales. There was no real attempt at scaling things last year.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

This store is a seasonal store. It has been fairly successful both years that I have run it, although I did not put anywhere near as much effort into it last year as I did the first one. The store could easily grow if you dedicate time to advertising, especially advertising to a Facebook audience.

    Skills to have

You should have the skills to use Facebook Advertising (or an advertising platform of your choice) and some customer service skills (mainly through email). This store was mainly run through CJDropshipping, but knowledge of any dropshipping platform would do.

    Why use Exchange?

Exchange is the largest and fastest-growing marketplace for Shopify e-commerce stores

    Verified listing data

The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.

    Secure messaging platform

You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.

    Encrypted payment capture

Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.

Take time to inspect the business

Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.

    Safe store transfer

When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.

    Post-purchase 24/7 Shopify support

Once you log into your Shopify account for the first time and choose a subscription plan, Shopify Support Gurus are available 24/7 to help you with the settings of the store.
