Why this business was started

I decided to start the business because I identified a gap in the market for a yoga focussed apparel and accessory site. Fitness is a huge industry and by specialising in the yoga niche I was able grow sales very quickly and create a brand people were happy to browse and buy from. Also combine this with the fact yoga is a growing industry and also something that translates extremely well on social media.

The reason of selling this business

Unfortunately due to delayed shipping times and below expected product quality on some drop shipping products the facebook page’s customer ranking drop and is now unable to advertise on Facebook. This ad account, instagram account and everything else is unaffected. It is simple to start a new facebook page however this needs to be done properly and have time dedicated to it to make sure the same problem doesn’t occur again. This will mean having the capacity to test products before selling and keeping customer service to a very high level. This is not a hard task but something I do not really have the time or passion for anymore sure to spending most of my time on my online marketing agency. Someone with dedication to growing the brand will be able to do this fairly easily.

Other details about profit: The business was started and then grew very quickly towards the end of last year, advertising was then pretty much turned off due to Christmas and not being able to get items delivered in time. We did another burst of advertising this year and did £13,000 in March but this is when the problem with the facebook page came. Looking at sales figures and how quickly we were able to grow them it is clearly a great site for marketing through facebook and I have no doubt it has great potential with some time and dedication put towards it. Typically the advertising spend is 30-50% of the revenue so aiming for around a 2-3 ROAS. I typically aim for a mark up of 5x on the wholesale price which mean the overall net profit per sale is 20-30%. These are rough numbers and all depend on the products in question and the efficiency of the advertising.

    How to grow this business

    Great success was seen early on using a drop shipping model which has it’s benefits but i see huge potential in this website and brand for white label products and eventually unique branded clothing and yoga accessories. The business has a great name and is something customers gravitate to because it is yoga focused. Combine this with unique products and increased repeat business and I think the brand could go very far.

    Skills to have

    Good knowledge of social media marketing would be useful and also good curation of content to share. Apart from this it just requires dedication and time to focus on the details to keep a stress free brand and shopping experience.
