Why this business was started

I started Zaffre in 2016, as I was looking to build a business from home that used the skills I developed in my professional life. I have a love of jewellery (who doesn't?), the product is small, and doesn't have an expiry date - so storage, management and shipping is cheap and easy.

The reason of selling this business

We had a death in the family that took away much of my time and focus for many months, and then more recently my husband started a consulting business that I am now committed to.

The new owner can choose their own approach, obviously, but I do the following: Select and order from suppliers, build products on the site, manage stock, respond to customers, fulfil orders, advertise, social media engagement, email marketing.

General description

Zaffre is a retail jewellery business based in Australia. The pieces are selected twice a year from a handful of trusted suppliers at wholesale AUD prices, then marketed via all the usual channels - Google, Facebook, email etc. The product is then shipped in branded Zaffre packaging.

Ideal work from home in a business that's hard not to love. You put in as much time and effort as you want to get out of it. Lots of options to build, diversify, take the lines in new directions.

How can the future owner improve the business?

More proactive social and email engagement would go a long way to boosting this business. The product is pretty, and people like to "like" it. I would feed more time into establishing desirable, easy to choose gift items ahead of Christmas. Specialty focus like wedding jewellery could work too.

What work have you put into the store?

I developed the brand, sourced the product, had all the packaging developed, and did the marketing, administration and fulfilment myself. Over the years I have customised the Shopify store to what it is today.
