Business Story

Why this business was started

In March when covid hit, I found myself with no means of a living. It was either go back home to Israel or make something work here. With almost no other viable options, I took a leap of faith and put my life savings into ZAIO NYC and sold masks to customers around the world. In the beginning people thought I was crazy. And here we are-- the need for masks is NOT going away any time soon. Cases are the highest they've been to date and honestly, this pandemic is going to leave a lasting scar on the population. People will be wearing and buying masks for years to come.

The reason of selling this business

I need to get back to music. My heart is in music and running a successful business obviously takes me away from that. I need to fulfill my dreams but want to only do so knowing ZAIO NYC is going to continue without me. It has so much potential. Ive seen it. I've lived it. It saved me the life I know.

What's involved in running this business

Really just ensuring orders are packed on time, stock gets reordered from Midtown (if you choose to keep the same vendors), and responding to customer support emails. Usually the emails are just people asking when their order will be delivered and I send them the tracking link from there.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

Keep marketing going. Orders will keep going in as long as there is some paid media turned on. Add new products or designs every season. We always see a sursurge of new orders every new collection launch. At the end of 2022, ZAIO NYC should/will have more than just accessories and can be a full mall or many types of products sold by many brands (if this is aligned with ZAIO's new owner).

    Skills to have

Coming from a musician that learned the trade of Shopify and built the site for you, the only skills or knowledge that is needed is simple phone and email service to be able to contact a Shopify rep in the case of a new customization is needed and/or an issue arrises. Fashion and ecommerce experience, or even a good eye would help with success but by no means are required for success with ZAIO NYC. The site is built for you. The brand is developed for you. The masks are designed for you. The vendors are discovered (even that of the new cashmere products). The customer based is already well over 6K and growing. You are set up for success and if anything is ever needed, Im a phone call away.

    Segev H.Current store owner
I am an NYC based musician. In March when covid hit, I found myself jobless. With no other options, I took a leap of faith and put my life savings into ZAIO NYC. I saw the demand for high quality masks so I connected with a designer to help with initial designs & vendors in Midtown, NYC. ZAIO NYC was featured on Vogue (and still is) and I have seen an unbelievable return on investment. I am looking to refocus my days back to music, and to leave ZAIO NYC and its 6K (and growing daily) customer base to someone who is eager to get into ecommerce.
